external terabyte drive wont read

I'am brand new to Linux and what not in fact i installed it on a whim cause it looked interesting. but my problem now is that my external terabyte hard drive wont show up on any of the menus and i've tried looking through the other FAQs but to no avail any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'am using Ubuntu version 8.10 and its an iomega hard drive

how is this hard drive connected? via usb? if yes, it would be helpful, if you could provide the output of the command 'lsusb'
so press alt+f2 and enter 'xterm', then enter 'lsusb' into the terminal and paste the output here.
