Recovery After Install Ubuntu

Hi ,

Today i was installed Ubuntu OS , Over My windows XP but unfortunately i lost all the Windows and Data i want to ask if i can recover all the Files and DATA from the Disk

no garauntees but you can try to use testdisk and photorec

sudo apt-get install testdisk

Are you sure you installed it over your Windows partition. Can paste the output of

sudo fdisk-l

when you type it into a Terminal?

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:
(when the system ask you a password give your user password, you will not see nothing when you type it, then press enter)

sudo fdisk -l

Please take care of spaces when you type it:

sudo <space> fdisk <space> -l

the -l command parameter is the lower of -L
