How do I retrieve pics from a Dead HD.

I have a WD 2 TB Caviar green dead sata hard drive that came out of my WD BOOK LIVE enclosure, I would like to retrive some of the data from there, how do I go about it?

I do but, i saved some new pictures in this HD that i didn`t bother to backup and now i`m suffering and worry, would you be able to help me?

To install it install testdisk package...

How do i install this application? i`m running Win7- 64 bit, do i need a boot up disk w/ Ubuntu in it?

Use a liveCD ubuntu environment. You will need a partition large enough to hld all the recovered data from all of the partition space on the drive (assuming it spinsd up)

Again, why do you not have a backup....

The messega that i`m getting when i try to open the hard drive: could not mount 2.0 TB Filesystem
Error mounting:mount:wrong fs type,bad option,bad superblock etc, etc???? i`m using testdisk-6.13 linux.

You can use foremost on the device as it is, no need for test disk
