package is very old .. how about an update

I have maintained this package for the last 3 years or so, but have never seen any updates to Ubuntu. Do I do it myself, or do I get someone at Ubuntu doing it?

I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes are significant then the package will be updated sooner rather than later.
