what is the expected release date for systemd 230?

Asked by WoJ

Hello!

Is there an estimate of the release date for the systemd 230 package?

There are key changes coming for those who use systemd-nspawn (specifically an automatic way to drop privileges) and it would be awsome to have them in production.

Thank you for any rough date

Systemd version 230 will probably be part of Ubuntu 16.10, which is the Ubuntu release currently in development and to be published in October 2016.

I doubt that there are plans for an upgrade of systemd to version 230 for Ubuntu's currently supported releases, unless that version is delivering so much advantage that this justifies a SRU https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

If you need that version, you might check whether someone else has already built a package in a PPA, or you can always try building such version yourself.
