system-config-printer configuration files

Asked by Roberto

Hi,

I have issues after upgrading from 12.04 to 14.04. I can run the tool as root but not as a normal user (see detailed description here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/518723/ubuntu-14-04-cups-problem). I was wondering whether it is possible to do the the job manually: I guess that system-config-printer writes the configuration to some file, and thus I could solve my problem by directly editing that file (copying the configuration for root to my user, in my case).

Is it doable? If yes, what files should I look at?

Use any application, it's no different to windows. If you want to print a text file you can pipe to lp :)

lp does not work, as described in this bug report:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1352809

Anyway I do not understand your suggestion: how do I send a job to the printer through the web interface? Is it possible? Thanks for your help!

Can you help with this problem?
