Error Message: GNOME Terminal

Asked by telesismedia

After entering the following two command-line entires:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

apt-get -f install

The terminal returns with these messages:

E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dkpg/lock - open (Permission denied)

E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dkpg/) , are you root?

This problem started after visiting:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu#Reporting%20Bugs

I was attempting to add this repository along with its packages to handle multi-media codec installations!

I need a solution to this problem!

Thanks,

telesismedia

The second command needs to be run as root, that's what the sudo in the first command is for. So the second command should be: sudo apt-get -f install

Can you help with this problem?
