skype has gone from synaptic manager

Asked by john

Have just upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10. Seemed to be OK. However, I wanted to try the latest Skype for Linux. It requested that I uninstalled Skype and its associate skype common. I installed the Beta version of Skype, but there were problems with the sound - no recorded message on the test call - so I went to uninstall this Beta Skype and re-install the Skype in synaptic. It is not longer there, saying that it is in the data base. How can I access that Skype? Please for some help.

Skype is in the medibuntu repository, The upgrade will have disabled this so you will need to re-enable it.

If you you run:

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

you may find the repository is commented out. You can uncomment this and run:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install skype
