brokenCount error, synaptic pkg mgr not working

Asked by lewize

Hello, mid way through an install update the workstation was turned off, when rebooted the workstation gave the error 'error brokenCount > 0'. I have gone into Synaptic Package Manager and it wont let me do anything, an error message box appears saying "E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg -- configure -a' to correct the problem.
I have gone into the terminal and key'd in what it asked but no joy. Can anyone help.

The full command is : sudo dpkg --configure -a

Please get the spacing and the hyphens correct.

What happens?

Hi, thanks,
it starts printing: setting up sudo etc.
its stopped at the moment as if it is working behind the scenes.
Ill leave it do what it needs for the moment and let you know if it resolves
my issue.

Thank you very much for your help.
