how to Switch to the 'synaptic' package manager in ubuntu 9.04 jaunty

Asked by chetanjec

 Hi friend,
When i install GStreamer fluendo MPEG2 demuxing plugin ( I found it in Add/Remove Application > Sound & Video) , I found a message - Confirm installation of restricted software , I confirm it... After than i get message
                               Cannot install 'gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mpegdemux'

This application conflicts with other installed software. To
                               install 'gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mpegdemux' the
conflicting software must be removed first.

Switch to the 'synaptic' package manager to resolve this
                               conflict.

The problem is that -- How can i remove this problem .. or how can Switch to the 'synaptic' package manager in ubuntu 9.04 jaunty..

Hi,

Go in your panel to System.

Go to administration and click on Synaptic Packet manager.

That should do the trick.

Be sure that you have repositories enabled.System>admin>software sources> check all under ubuntu software (except source) and first two under updates tab.Reload.Now you should be able to install package.
