problem with software sources

I have experienced a problem on xubuntu 7.10 software sources it stopped updates and now I get the following error

E: Malformed line 48 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
E: The list of sources could not be read.
Go to the repository dialogue to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

Please can someone help

Actually the output tells you what's wrong:

Please open sources.list copy&paste the content and provide the url here:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/

Path is /etc/apt/sources.list
You can find it by navigating within Nautilus and double click to open
or open Gedit (text editor), open file and navigate to the file in the popup window
or type in a terminal:
gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Please upgrade to 8.04 or 9.10 asap though. 7.10 is no longer supported and the repos for it have been closed.
