Synaptic package problem......

I have Ubuntu hardy 8.04v . i wanted to in stall xfig but when i tried using add/remove program it shows failed to fetch packages.gz repository?

and also when tried to reload in my synaptic package manager it shows the same thing.

 can anyone help me....plz....urgent...have an assignment......
