Using games after installation

Asked by jadeblack

I'm new at this:-) I may be in the wrong place to be asking this question, so bear with me. I am running Xubuntu. I have installed a couple of programs using the Synaptic Package Manager and they have run fine. I decided to look for a game to play. My question is after installation, where do you find the game to run it? The other programs I downloaded went straight the start menu thing so I knew where they were, but the games aren't there. I went searching and found a couple of games in usr in the games folder, when I right click I get 'execute', 'open with "Sun Java Web Start"', and 'open using other application'. Which of these, if any, should I choose?

You normally would want to 'execute' the game.

I have tried 'execute.' Nothing happens...

It's possible that the game you are trying to execute only runs on a terminal.

I have tried 'execute' on all three games. If they did only run on a terminal, how would I make them work? Should I maybe try installing a different game?

Open a terminal using the menu, I use Ubuntu not Xubuntu, so don't know the menu path, but there should be something in the menu for "Terminal". Once open you can type the name of the game in there.

Paste the names of some of the games you installed.
