Ubuntu Server Proxy Config

Asked by Ashley J

Hi,

I'm currently Installing Ubuntu server for the first time and attempting to connect to the proxy during the install

' Configure the package manager' and the trying to run an update command / connect to internetafter install

i.e. sudo apt-get update and it fails at about 33% of update

"http:// [ [user] [:pass]@]host[:port]/"

For example I've been entering in

http:// joe.blog:password123@10.12.0.11:8080/

Can someone point me in the right direction or provide assistance.

We are currently connecting to a proxy server at my work

Did you configure the proxy in /etc/apt/apt.conf ?

No - I'm in there now

Just wanted to know the correct format

I can connect fine using Ubuntu desktop to our proxy. On the server I'm having trouble with the format

Not sure how it's meant to be formatted

The web has hundreds of guides on the file. Couldn't you find one?

Eg

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AptGet/Howto#APT_configuration_file_method

Can you help with this problem?
