How to install Synaptic Package Manager on UBUNTU 12.04LTS

Asked by kishor

How to install synaptic package manager on UBUNTU 12.04LTS .
It is not possible to get packages from set of Ubuntu repository DVDs

In Ubuntu software Center serch option is absent. It indicates list of all packges.
Why Synaptic Package Manager was not added as a default in UBUNTU 12.04LTS ?
Earlier I had UBUNTU 11.04.I had bought set of Ubuntu repository DVDs.
These DVDs are useless now.
I can not use APToN CD prepared for Ubuntu 11.04.

Hello ,

Open a terminal (Ctrl+alt+t) and copy-paste from here to terminal bellow command

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
sudo apt-get install synaptic
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you don't have an Internet connection , you can download Synaptic for Ubuntu 12.04 from here

http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/synaptic

from another computer with Internet connection , and install it with Software Center of Dpkg from terminal .

Be careful to download the correct architecture 32bit or 64bit

Let me know if you stuck somewhere.

Thanks

it should be in the software centre, however you may have to go to edit=>software sources and tick the universe repo's after which it should appear in there just fine

also other and canonical partners might be a good one as well, after that just
