downloading updates

I'm having trouble understanding how to download new updates. When I put in the disk for updates, a group of files appear. Where do I go from here? I ask this because I always see the error message that the files have not been downloaded, and do I want to disregard the updates. What are the steps for making sure the upgrades are downloaded properly? This is for Ubuntu Gutsy.

Load up the Synaptic Package Manager

Go to Settings > Repositories >

and set up everything in there

in 3rd party, disable the disc
