How can I get rid of gimp 2.7.3 and go back to an earlier version that works

I am having nothing but grief from gimp 2.7.3. I have always loved gimp up until this version. I can't get a tool options dialog, docking dialog boxes together just won't happen. If anybody can help me it would be great, just want to get rid of this dud. Ian

If you can find the debs, you can install it. You will need to pin the version so the updates do not overwrite your efforts
