why is that the synaptic packet manager does not show the Aircrack-ng-1.1 downloaded packet for installation?

i downloaded the aircrack-ng-1.1 in ubuntu 11.04 and keep it in the downloads director. when i want to install it, i called synaptic packet manager, but it does not show the aircrack-ng packet i downloaded. why is that ? and is there any other way i can install aircrack-ng-1.1 in ubuntu 11.04 ?

Synaptic does not install downloaded packets. Only istalls packets in the repositories that (by default or by user) are registered.
You must either use GDebi (if downloaded file is a .deb file) or follow the directions in http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=install_aircrack.
