Can I change the Ubuntu logo on the splash screen?

I would like to customize the Ubuntu splash screen for our campus. I have set up a demonstration thin client environment that works. Now I would like to give the environment a feel that shows the effort that was involved in maiking it happen. If it is possible to modify the splash scrren and the logo it may go a long way towards getting acceptance. So I would like to know what steps are necessary to make the the changes. I am using Fiesty Fawn 7.04
