apt-get update error.

when i say apt-get update
i get the following in my terminal

i did understand that it is not connecting to internet. but i can access all other sites using a web browser.........
actually i'm working over LAN in my office. can some one please help me in knowing what the problem could be..............

actually the thing that i did not understand is that i'm able to access all the links through my web browser but not using apt-get...........
if i need to configure my apt-get to use my proxy server like what i did in my firefox........... please let me know how can i do that.................i did not get clue out of man apt.conf or man aptitutude
