Cannot save user data in pdf forms.

Asked by Amapele

I am trying to fill out a form in a pdf file using evince, but the data I enter is not saved. (The entered data is displayed as it would be in Acrobat Reader.) Is there some other supported package I should be using or should I try the Linux download from Adobe's site? I am running Hardy Heron and am new to Ubuntu (this is my first post).

Try pdfedit (install via Synaptic).

Hi :)

I agree with Sam but whenever you install packages it is best to use Synaptic Package Manager (or one of the pother package managers) rather than just downloading stuff from web-sites you might not already know and trust. The package managers are great for really making sure that the proper things get installed the right way safely. From the top taskbar click on

System - Administration - Synaptic

Since your install of Ubuntu is probably very new it might be worth working through this worksheet to try to sort out all your multimedia

i tend to keep the non-free components and tehy haven't cost me abnything yet. One day i might switch to entirely OpenSource tho. Not just yet tho :)

It's better to stick with Hardy Heron for the next few months at least, don't bother to 'upgrade' just yet as 10.06 is due out soon enough and it would be better to upgrade straight from your 8.04 to the 10.06 a month or few after that gets released at the end of June 2010.

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
