When will java 6u10 be packaged?

Asked by jonek

A new upstream release is available: see http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/6u10.html . What are the steps to be done until a package for that version will be available in Ubuntu (hardy)? Can I watch what is happening somewhere here in the launchpad somehow?

Greets, Jonek.

i doubt that 6u10 will be packaged until next april (when the release after intrepid ibex comes out, intrepid is due out later this month and will have 6u07 - the idea with ubuntu is to package new versions of software for newer releases of ubuntu.

The jdk-distro release has already been made, so it's possible the deb packages could be done this week. But that may be me being optimistic. And even if that happens they probably won't make it into Intrepid.

Just to follow up - this update has been packaged and included in Intrepid already.

Very impressive! A big thanks to all involved!

Just to complete the answer: I tried to install the binary packages that are build out of the source package "sun-java6" for Intrepid on my hardy box. Everything worked well for me so far. Thanks!
