sun-java6-jre is installed by default in server version

Asked by Eli

The package sun-java6-jre installs server version of JRE instead of client one.
I guess it is just a wrong package from SUN, should be replaced in the repository.

Thats more a bug report than a question I think. Did you check if a bug reported was already posted?

To me it sounds like more of a question than a bug report.

The sun-java6 packages are built by sun and merely put into debs by ubuntu. That's why they're in the multiverse repository. The 64-bit versions sun only provides a "server" JIT for.

The 32-but versions include both a "client" and "server" JIT and use the configuration of the machine to choose which to run by default. (I'm not sure what the current criteria are.)

If you still have questions, can you please be more specific about your configuration?

-james.
