Can not get games to run i.e. Pogo or MSN

Asked by Amy Demrovsky

I have loaded all of the Java items I could find on my control panel and I still can't get any games from Pogo or MSN to run. I am new to Ubuntu and am not quite sure what I need to do.
When I go to Pogo and click on a game everything will come up and it shows that it applet is ready and done but there is nothing but a blank page where the game should be, there is a header with an advertisement however. Any help would be appreciated!

If you go to:

http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml

Does it say you have the latest java?

OK I had the same problem with Pogo.
It would pop up play the advertisement
and that's all.
Get rid of your iced tea java!!!!
Delete all of your java.
Then open up your terminal
Applications-Accessories and click
on terminal.
Put this in there:
sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts
password when asked. You will not see the password when typing.
Hit enter when asked Y/N be sure it's Y.
Then a window will open inside your terminal and hit F12 and arrow
to the left and hit enter.
That will install it and you will be able to play Pogo:-)

As I was booting I pressed alt f2 and clicked on the cd rom
and was able to install.
But it is still not recognizing the DVD-CD ROM as I boot..
