running java on ubuntu

Asked by vstham

Can't run java applets.
After a recent automatic update of softwares, some of my websites (those requiring Java) could run properly. I repeated a download of Java, but my system could not install.

Well first i need to know what state the system is in or anything I do may be pointless. You still havent give the output of the command I requested.

Can you help with this problem?
