Issues with sudo command

Asked by Brandon Perkins

I have been trying to install packages for python and when I tried to install them manually it gives me an error and says to use sudo. So i try the sudo command but asks for a password. I assumed the the password was the same as my user login but when I try to type it in nothing happens. Specifically the terminal is not reading the input from my keyboard, except for the enter key but when I press it I get a message saying the password is wrong.
If i use sudo by itself it asks for a password but the terminal won't read the keyboard.
If i use sudo followed by whatever file/command i need it gives a paragraph saying that I am not an administrator when I am.

Why is sudo not working for me?

sudo doesn't give any feedback. You are right it is your login password but you won't see any asterisks or anything

Can you help with this problem?
