how to let an app launch with admin privileges

Asked by thewilbob@comcast.net

I have app (boinc) that won't connect to localhost. If I run as root it works. How do I set the launch of the app to have system rights?

I mentioned that I sudo boinc works. It is a system tool. The question was how to make the app have the rights to connect as root

Set the command field of the launcher to 'gksu boinc' without the quotes.

Thanks Enrico and Aditya for your suggestions. Boinc stopped working altogether and I could not get it going again. Not only that but the filesystem was strewn from end to end with boinc related trash that I had to hand remove. I have had it with boinc and will not make any further attempts.

thanks,

wil
