terminal help

When i did <ctrl><alt><f2> and went to the terminal it was asking for a login and password which i never setup. how do i set it up.

When you installed Ubuntu you had set up an account.
When you boot your Computer Ubuntu by default logs in with this account (probably without asking you to type in username/password). I think you can see your username int the right corner (on top). Otherwise open a Terminal and type: id
This will show you your username.

When you do <ctrl><alt><f2>, you can log in with this username/password. FYI, it's the same password you use when doing things with "administrator" rights, like installing software.
