letters dont show up after sudo su in terminal

after i type in the sudo su command in terminal, it asks for my password, but the letters dont show up when i type it

You don't use sudo su in Ubuntu. Use:

sudo -i

When you type your password you will get no feedback at all. Just keep typing as if it was there
