want to change to root

when am typing some commands in desktop login.. its saying u must login in root to work those commnds.. actually am having one user login.. how can chane to root and set password for that..

You should not use the root account directly. The root account itself is not required in Ubuntu. What you need, is to be able to escalate the privileges of your normal Ubuntu account to root privileges. This is done using the sudo command.
