stunnel out of date

Ubuntu's Xenial repo currently hosts an outdate version of stunnel (v5.30).
The most up to date release of stunnel is v5.45.

Looking at the changelog (https://www.stunnel.org/sdf_ChangeLog.html), there are many security vulnerabilities that have addressed since.

Would it be possible for the repo maintainers to push an updated release of stunnel?

I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes in the new version are significant then the package will be updated sooner

Ubuntu is not a rolling release and packages do get left if they are stable.
