Methods/classes Stress-ng / instances

Asked by mehdi jaiem

Hello all,

I'm doing a benchmark on different platforms and i wanted to use stress-ng as a stress tool.
I'm interested in these classes memory,cpu,cpu-cache,device,scheduler and interrupt and my questions are:

2- In stress-ng there is always that term that I don't understand which is ' instances. can someone enlighten me, please ?
3- what's the difference between stressors and methods?

thank you all :)

Thank you, Manfred. I'm beginning with Linux that's why i still have some problems.

I wanted to run stress n-g in parallel with cyclictest. but the command line doesn't allow me to do that.

i tried to : sudo ./stress-ng --sequential 8 --class io cpu interrupt memory cpu-cache device io interrrupt os scheduler -t 30mn --times --tz --perf &.

but when I ' ps' the stress-ng test isn't shown or running

is there a special command line to run simultaneously a stress-ng and cyclictest ?

Do you receive any error message for your command?
