Startup Application -- Configuration -- NICDSign issue: Desktop icon doesn't show command

Asked by MadhuSoodanan

After solving an issue with ProxKey Token Tool I found that Desktop properties does not show the following startup command.

Name: NICDDign.desktop

Command: sh /opt/nic/NICDSign/NICDSignRestart.sh

Comment: NICDSign Manual Startup

I have added it in STARTUP APPLICATIONS. But don't know whether it is working perfectly.

Now the properties show:
Type: desktop configuration file (application/x-desktop)

And this is the type needed. Bot no command.....That is the problem.

This is the message I get when I try to sign in:

'NICDSign client is not installed or running. If NICDSign client is already installed remove and reconnect the token before trying again'

That is a message from NICDSign and NICDSign is a foreign package.
Ubuntu cannot help with it. Please ask at the source where you got that program.

I have already asked them about the issue. But they didn't help it since this is ubuntu. This message is common in old versions also. And solution mentioned is to select the token and save again. But this was not useful.

I wish to use it on more than one system -- one at office (in old version) and the other one at home (in new version). I have removed NICDSIgn

NICDSign is not part of the Ubuntu packaging.

Thanks Manfred Hampl, that solved my question. I was trying to resolve issues regarding Jammy. I thought this might help the developers and the people who encounter similar issues.
