64 version available?

Asked by Jorge Gustavo

Hi,

I've a Sony Vaio with a 64 bit kernel.
Is it possible to provide the spicctrl package compiled for 64 bit kernels?

Thanks in advance,

Jorge

P.S. Meanwhile, I'll try to learn how to do it.

The code is quite small (one c file, and one h file).

You could use dpkg-source to rebuild the package as per here:
http://www.moosechips.com/2008/09/ubuntu-rebuild-a-source-package/

You will need to install your kernel headers in addition to the sources listed there. You will also need to override the debian/control file to remove the arch-specific instruciton.

Currently this package is unmaintained in debian upstream.

I should further mention that it may be that some of that code may actually be specific to 32 bit versions of the vaio hardware; which may be why the package is marked as 32 bit only. I don't actually know this, however.

Can you help with this problem?
