after unexxplained blasting of audio thru "rhythmbox" suddenly no soud except thru "Dummy" i have the ICHH8 Family. Stumped!

last night i started getting a loud sound thru rhythmbox. Would up removing rythmbox and rebooting. the "demmy" module soubded, but nothing else. Audio is not muted and nothing from the "ICH8 Family" is displayed in the gnome sound controls; only the "Dummy Output" shows in the Output tab. No sound from the "Test Sound dbox.

What hath i done wrong!!

Try:

killall pulseaudio; rm -r ~/.pulse*

Wait 10 seconds and reboot

i thankee kindly for the solution. had this happened, oh, 15 or 20 years ago =And had the launchpad not been around=. i would have been up all night until i had found the|some workaround. s eems like a bug in p'audio.

Its a good firstvmove for any sound issue if the distribution uses pulseaudio
