A quick search in the Ubuntu Packages site shows that the sparkleshare package has got only an architecture-independent build marked as "all" - there are no i386 and x86_64 (alias amd64) builds (see http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise-backports/sparkleshare).

You probably asked this question because you saw only the "i386" build on Launchpad, that happens because all architecture-independent packages are currently built only on i386 machines and this shows up in the Launchpad pages as well. (I've linked the related bug report if you want more information about that.) That does not affect the architecture independence of the package itself.

Can you help with this problem?
