spnavcfg package for spacenavd

Asked by Thomas Anderson

spacenavd package contains the 6dof input device driver. libspnav0 is the driver connection api. I can't find a package that has the spnavcfg, which is a gui app to modify driver parameters. Is there one? and if not, shouldn't there be one?

Considering that http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/natty/en/man8/spnavd_ctl.8.html, which is provided by the spacenavd package, instructs the user to use spnavcfg, it does seem like this program should be included in the spacenavd package. I recommend filing a bug about this, affecting the spacenavd package. If the Ubuntu developers think that it spnavcfg should not be provided by the spacenavd package, your bug report can always be changed to specify no existing package, and given the needs-packaging tag (i.e., it could then be converted into a feature request for the spnavcfg utility to be made available through the creating of a separate Ubuntu package for it).

Before filing your bug report, you should read https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs carefully. After reading that, you can search to see if this has already been reported, and if not, report it. After reporting it, you can link this question and the bug report to each other with the "Link existing bug" link at the top of this question page. However, your bug report should be complete and self-contained--it should not be necessary for the Ubuntu developers to refer to this question in order to fully understand and appreciate your bug report.

Please post again (by replying in this question, not by starting a new one) if you need any help with that.

It occurs to me that, even though you have not said so, you might also be interested in help working around this problem and manually installing the spnavcfg utility. If that is the case, please post a reply in this question asking about that.

Can you help with this problem?
