Conversion will not start

Can you start SoundKonverter from the terminal/konsole and see what output you get when you click start. Are there any errors reported in the konsole which may give us a clue?

Thanks for your reply. Please bear with me, I am new at linux.
I have started the soundkonverter from the console prompt and get this:

Then the program interface comes up ok without any indication of problems but when I select the source file I get the extra 2 lines starting with kio.... ending in....ThumbCreator not found.

No further information is displayed when I click 'start' it just sits there 'waiting' in the status field.

Do flac files play correctly using say totem or rhythmbox, how about mp3 files?

Have you tried reinstalling soundconverter...

Is the application able to convert from flac to ogg vorbis without issue?
