soundKonverter won't rip a CD

I'm trying to rip a CD to WAV files using soundKonverter. The CD seems to be recognized properly, I've specified an output directory, but it just sits there "Waiting". No other processes that I know of are accessing the CD drive. What could be the problem?

try changing the backend for cd ripping and have a look at:
