Cannot make Sound Converter work in Ubuntu 11.10

Since installing 11.10 Sound Converter no longer converts all of the files in a folder or a single file. I get a Gstreamer error message. If I have a folder of several files one will convert, but Sound Converter apparently believes all of the files have converted. When I try to convert another file in the folder , I get a message telling me that file has already been converted. I have this same problem with both the gnome and unity desktops. I have compared dependent requirements on the web page against those loaded on my machine. I am using Sound Converter1.4 4-2

I am trying to convert mp4 to mp3. I have been using Sound Converter for several years without a problem until 11.10. Lame is installed for Mp3.

So you want to extract the audio from the video files. Why not just use:

http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

So much easier....

Let me explain my procedure for using sound converter. I download youtube files as Mp4 than convert them to Mp3, put the converted file into a folder and eventually burn to a cd with brasero. Can i do this with your easier way?

Yes, you don't have to download or convert the videos. The site will make the MP3s for you which you can then burn as audio CDs

Thank you very much! I have looked at your link and booked marked it. Since upgrading to 11.10 I have had several problems. As you know we all resist change but I will certainly give your way every chance. I did notice something flash by when I opened your email that said sound converter did not work with 11.10. Was not able yo track it down.
