My CD extractor has stopped working and I'd like to know why and if I can fix it and if so, how. It has worked for years and now it just will not read any CD's I insert?

Do you mean the CD Extracting Program or the CD Drive itself?

I don't know. I used to put a disk in and the Sound Juicer would open and I would click "extract" and it would. Now I put a disk in and nothing happens...Brian

Chances are what happened is that the autoplay has been disabled. You should
manually be able to fire up Sound Juicer from Applications --> Sound &
Video. Once it's fired up does it detect the disk and extract?

No I tried that. I click on edit and the only options are "reread disk" and "eject". Eject works but it just doesn't seem to want to read the disk.

Are you able to play the disc normally at all using either Totem or
Rythombox? What version of Ubuntu are you using?
