What location are you outputting the resulting files to?

Most likely you have choosen a directory to put the created files in that is not available ot the moment (external drive, network folder…) or where you do not have the permissions to write to.
Go to Edit → Preferences and choose a new Music Folder, somewhere you can write to. The Music folder in your Home would be a good idea.
