Full Removal of Programs
Hello there,
I'm trying to figure a way to completely remove a program (for re-hash, cuz I'm dumb) off the software center, but I can't seem to do so. I know it just keeps the files it needs and calls it removed, but things like the indexing of wine is still in my applications tab in the panel, so I know it hasn't uninstalled completely. I have games that didn't work in wine, and now they're permanently under the "wine" tab of that panel. I even uninstalled them already through wine, but now it's time to do the after-clean. I have removed wine, now how do I go about removing all the related files for a complete re-install of it? I know it hasn't gotten rid of all the files/folders, as found through searching my file system. However, some of the files and folders are locked, and I don't want to sudo them in case the sofware center needs those files.
So I guess what I'm actually asking, is how to completely (and safely) remove programs, and still be able to re-install them completely (not just from indexed and shrunk files).
I think that when I say "remove" a program from the software center, it should completely remove all data applicable to that program, unless it's required to run the system, but it doesn't. Even windows does! lol.
