how to install software - googleearth for Linux after download

Asked by Piet Beukes

Hi, I downloaded googleearth for linux directly and is now sits on my desktop with a bin extention. How do I install it? I think I have Ubuntu I-Ibex (8.10?) as OS on my desktop.
I also downloaded dropbox and have that on my desktop - it was not listed on synaptic. it reads as follows - /home/Desktop/nautilus-dropbox_0.6.1_i386_ubuntu_9.04.deb - how do I install that?

Google Earth

Look at http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2009/03/20/how-to-install-google-earth-5-on-ubuntu/

Dropbox

First a caution, You say that you have 8.10, but the extension says 9.04?

This is a .deb. Just RIGHT click on the .deb and chhose "Install with gdebi"
