Software Center not starting

Asked by Everett Morris

Have tried sudo apt-get -y --reinstall install software-center. Doesn't work. Says -y not a valid command or something silly. Please advise.

Update: I got the sudo command to work. It showed successful. Still won't open. Now, the "Ubuntu Software Center" opens and runs. Frankly, a bit confused. Please let me know if I'm doing the right thing still and also, what is the difference between the Software Center and Ubuntu Software Center? So long as I'm able to get programs, etc, I won't worry about it. Thank you.

What is the full output of:

sudo apt-get update; lsb_release -a

Thanks

It did a litany of checks, no lsb modules available. For your reference, I am running 16.04.1 LTS

I asked for the full output, not a description

I guess I misunderstood. Do you want what it shows in terminal? That's a whole lot of typing. Let's just call this answered.
