do I have to restart to get the default keyring back

Asked by Janet Seals

I accidentally deleted my default keyring authentication and now I can't download or install any software on my laptop, I get a message that I don't have permission to uninstall or install. How do get it back?
I updated in terminal and I restarted my laptop but I still can't install any programs thru Ubuntu Software Program.
What should I do to solve this?

If you search Dash for "password" you can reset the password there. If you cannot set the password then you will need to delete the old keyring and make a new one with a new password. You don't need to reinstall.
