What happened to my favorite graphic creation apps?

Asked by Dean von Germeten

Kolour-paint was one, similar to ms-paint; I don't remember the others, but the last Ubuntu upgrade lost them and I didn't save the older kernel. When I try to reinstall they can't be found on the server. What's left, (gimp, gnome & pinta), don't have as many features, less intuitive/harder learning curve. I want my old graphic/ image creation and editing apps back!

There is a package in the repositories called kolourpaint4, and you should be able to install that via software-center. ( I guess it is the same as the one from your external sources, but most probably even an updated version.)

Your second posting indicates that you have a problem with your package management, and that should be solved before you try installing anything.

Please open a terminal and issue the commands

uname -a
lsb_release -a
sudo apt-get update
apt-cache policy kolourpaint4

Then copy/paste all output into this question document that we can verify.

I received an update notice last night, installed all those packages & apps. Then I was able to install Kolour-paint again from the software center, so I have it again. Thank you, Ubuntu crew!
