This is not a bug because the repository is outdated and is not supported anymore.

Please upgrade your system. Maverick is not supported anymore.

As you can see in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick is End of life for more than a year.

Theoretically there is the possibility to upgrade your system by moving over to the (also obsolete) 11.04 Natty version, moving on to the obsolete 11.10 oneiric version and then upgrading to 12.04 Precise Pangolin, but this is far to cumbersome.

The recommended way forward for your system is creating a backup of your files to external media and to doing a clean installation of the current LTS version Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, see http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop
