adminstrator password now, no longer valid.

Asked by james wall

For whatever reason my admin password will not authenticate. I have not, knowingly, changed it. I have been an Ubuntu subscriber for a number of years and this is the first time this has happened. Of course, due to my advanced age, I may have actually forgotten. Please help me as my upkeep manager shows almost 225 updates due. Is there a way to change or find my admin password. Or do I have to download a whole new Ubuntu?

The procedure in http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/resetpassword describes how to reset the password via booting into recovery mode. If you experience problem when following the steps, please do not hesitate to tell so.

Can you help with this problem?
