package operation failed

Asked by shawn michael

This one seems less important but I was trying to install a game from the software centre and I received the "Package Operation Failed" message with the following details:

installArchives() failed: Selecting previously deselected package ttf-wqy-zenhei.

Please execute the instructions in steps 1 to 6 in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PackageManagerTroubleshootingProcedure with the only exception that in step 6 you should not create a new question, but should continue to use this current question document for pasting the output.

When I opened the update manager and switched to the main server my computer wanted to update but froze. I restarted and the update manager said it wanted to do a partial update which I allowed. It repeatedly mentioned "wesnoth" and finished successfully updating. I was then able too finish the install for "Battle For Wesnoth".

Do you still want me to follow the rest of the steps and send you the terminal results or is this result sufficient?

If you open a terminal and issue the commands

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

this should confirm or disprove if your package management system is healthy
again.
Providing the output of these two commands should be enough for the time
being.

Can you help with this problem?
